Moderately Attractive Helmets Finally Designed

It’s taken almost 40 years for someone to design a helmet for the ordinary folk (the non-lycra-wearing-but-still-enjoy-a-ride folk). Danish brand Yakkay have designed a line of bicycle helmets that look like normal hats. Costing between $120-$140 a pop, the helmets can be ordered online from The Bicycle Muse or 50Cycles.

Minimalism for 2011

In todays digital age, our ever increasing dependency on technology calls for a minimalist approach to design. Think of it as sensory relief. In short, minimalism is about reducing the work to the bare minimum of formal elements by removing as much visible content/contact from the producer. By presenting your audience with minimal information and maximum space, viewers are able to experience the work/message. The gap left becomes the space for the viewer to find their place in relation to the work, meaning it becomes more about the consumer then the producer. And ultimately, that’s what advertising is all about, right? Plus, it just looks nicer
